With the roll of a kickball, a newly refurbished sports diamond was put into play on the Union Pleasant Elementary School campus in August. The diamond on Pleasant Avenue was brought back to life thanks to collaboration between the school district, Village of Hamburg Parks & Recreation Department, PTSA and Hamburg Bulldogs Booster Club. After a couple of days of prep work, village recreation staff joined forces with parent, teacher and youth volunteers for the finishing touches that converted a grassy area back to a diamond. It’ll be used by Union Pleasant physical education classes during the school year and by the Hamburg Junior Baseball and Softball League for T-ball and girls’ softball during the summer. It’s also intended as a community diamond for neighborhood use, whether it’s children playing sandlot ball or family kickball games.
The mission of Union Pleasant Elementary School is to provide our children with an academic foundation and to create
an environment that addresses their social, emotional, and physical needs.
