Students in all Hamburg Schools will have an opportunity to taste test a new healthy recipe Buffalo chicken wing wrap during their lunch period the week of Feb. 27, courtesy of the cafeteria staff, two local chefs and Seeds of Living Education. The free bite-size wrap sample will consist of chicken breast meat and a ranch dressing salsa, with Julienne vegetables on the side. Students will be asked to rate the recipe.
The K-8 early dismissal day in April has changed due to revisions in the state assessment testing/scoring schedule. Friday, April 27 will now be a regular full attendance day for students. Instead, K-8 students will be dismissed early on Monday, April 30. On that date, Middle School students will be dismissed at 10:30 a.m.; elementary students, 11:30 a.m.
Organizations are invited to participate with displays in a Hamburg Community Wellness Fair to be held April 26 & 27 in the Hamburg High School gym, 4111 Legion Dr. Hours will be 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. on April 26; 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on April 27. This event is being sponsored by the Hamburg Central School District Department of Health and Physical Education.
A second session of Zumba and Yoga Continuing Education classes has been added. This session begins in March. The Zumba classes will run on Tuesdays from 7-7:30 p.m. for six weeks. Yoga will be offered on Tuesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. for six weeks. Registration is required.
The district’s Universal PreKindergarten Program is enrolling children who will be four years old by Dec. 1, 2012. There is no cost for families who reside in the district. There also are no income restrictions.
A fund-raiser sponsored by Hamburg High School's Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) with John and Mary's in Hamburg continues in February. Every Tuesday this month, during certain hours, 10% of sales will be donated to the Post Prom Party/SADD.
